Claire Kosky, raised in Rockbridge County, Virginia, is a writer and artist working with medium format film and digital photography. Currently, she makes work on farms where home animal slaughters are performed in order to examine the transformation of the body into meat and question humans’ relationships with the natural world. This body of work, Home Slaughter, was exhibited at Bard College in May of 2025. She produced a book of thirty photographs that modulates between landscapes marked by agriculture, scenes of flux represented by burn piles and steam, and amorphous pieces of meat. It includes original prose on experiencing slaughters.
